By now, you should have understood what the Securities Commission of Malaysia (SC) is, its functions and divisions. As Malaysia’s capital market has leap frogged to world class securities market, SC has adopted international standards under International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO), an international body that brings together regulators of the world’s principal stock exchanges.
The SC also has widepowers in regulating the securities market. Malaysia has moved from merit based regulation to disclosure based regulation in 2006/2007. Thus SC has embedded corporate governance principles, its pillars and structure to address issues of governance of SC roles and its operations.
